Caring For Your Bouquet

Thank you for purchasing cut flowers from Two Fools Farm! Now that you have a beautiful bouquet you want it to last as long as possible, right? Follow these simple tips to get a week of vase life and enjoyment out of your blooms.

Your flowers have been soaking up water on the farm, but transporting them is stressful. As soon as you arrive home fill a clean vase or other conainer with cool water. Remove the wrapping paper from your bouquet. Remove the rubberband. This is easy to do by locating the stem the rubberband is hooked to and slipping it off. The rubberband will unwind itself. Next, use clean clippers, scissors, or a sharp knife to trim the ends so they can take up water again. Finally, place your bouquet in the vase and ENJOY!

To get the longest life from your cut flowers, follow these tips:

1 Keep your bouquet out of direct sunlight.

2 Heat is hard on flowers. We can’t help summers high temperatures, but if you place the flowers in the refrigerator at night as you sleep it can help them to recoup and last longer.

3 Refreshing the water and removing any spent blooms daily is best.

4 Every three days, wash the vase, trim the ends again, and compost the flowers that look like they’ve had enough.

5 Certain flowers, like yarrow or zinnias, tend to make the water dirty. Keep an eye on the water and if it starts looking cloudy go ahead and change it right away.

By following these tips some customers have reported getting ten days or more out of some flowers in their bouquets!
